On Thursday, August 31, 2017 at approximately 6:35 p.m. Rosemark lost one of its oldest landmarks. Chris Frame had just turned onto Austin Peay Highway on his way to the University of Memphis football game when wife Carol called from their home on Rosemark Road (named “Harmoore” by its builders Walter and Willis Harvey Moore). The driving wind and rain from the remnants of Hurricane Harvey had uprooted the gigantic oak in their front yard.
Miraculously, no one was hurt and the house was unscathed. The tree dislodged two power lines. Rosemark lost power and TRA was closed for Friday classes. The Frames will keep the azaleas and saplings that were at the oak’s base, allow the saplings at the base of the tree to grow, and the cycle of renewal will begin.
