Garden Club

The Garden Club of Rosemark was established in 1965 and became a member of the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. and National Garden Clubs, Inc.  in 1985.  Mrs. Jim Ferguson served as the club’s first president.  Others who have served as president include Mrs. Nancy Spencer Seiffert, Mrs. Sarah Dunbar, Mrs. Merle Hill, Mrs. Shirley Lowe, Mrs. Mary E. Moffatt, Mrs. Helen Haynes, Mrs. Robbieanna Smith, Mrs. Colleen Adams, Mrs. Beth Phillips and Mrs. Louelen Dearen.  Current president is Mrs. Molly Hampton.

Members of the club have and continue to serve as local, District I (all West Tennessee) and state officers and committee chairs.  There are several Master Gardeners in the group and one accredited Flower Show Judge.

The club meets August through May, usually on the fourth Tuesday, at the Richland ARP Church Memorial Hall.  Among the club’s activities are:  participation in the Lichterman Nature Center Scarecrow Contest each fall, maintenance of the Blue Star Memorial Marker on Austin Peay Highway, holiday decorations displayed on the Rosemark town sign, contributing bingo prizes to Dunlap Retirement Center, collecting pull tabs for St. Jude Ronald McDonald House, and performing Random Acts of Flowers.

The objective of the Garden Club of Rosemark is “To encourage interest in all phases of home gardening and to promote better understanding of horticultural practices, civic beauty and the conservation of natural resources.”
